Going Electric!
New addition to the UK car fleet puts Rock Solid on the road to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and air quality impacts.
Rock Solid has just further reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to sustainability via the purchase and trial of a Hyundai Kona Fully Electric Vehicle. This being the first step towards moving to an all-electric or plug in hybrid fleet by the end of 2025.
As set out in the company’s ISO 14001:2015 Environmental Management System, Rock Solid have clear and defined objectives to be as environmentally friendly as possible, and to consistently reduce CO2 emissions going forward. This being based on the recognised fact that staff travel carries a significant environmental impact and is something that companies must address if we are all to achieve a significant reduction in global CO2 emissions and reduce the impact of global warming.
With a reported 300 miles range on a single charge, and 47 minutes for a rapid charge, the positive change to electric company vehicles will help to reduce our carbon footprint, our greenhouse gas emissions and air quality impact.
Research by the European Energy Agency found that, even with electricity generation, the carbon emissions of an electric car are around 17 – 30% lower than driving a petrol or diesel car. Today, there are more than 42,000 electrical charging points in the UK to power our long-distance travel, and the installation of convenient home charging points reduces our fuel cost to less than 5 pence per mile – a considerable saving with enormous environmental benefits.
